Where is the Secret of the Golden Helmet?
Go to Russet Highlands and search west of Sanctum: All in Sight. Current launch walkthroughs place the hidden scene near community-map coordinates (-597, 1628). Coordinates are a navigation aid from community maps, not an official quest marker. September 18 walkthrough.
Some guide indexes label this a side quest, while current walkthroughs describe it as an unmarked scene that does not appear normally in the quest journal. Expect no reliable map marker and use the Sanctum as your landmark.
How to pass the Devoted Helmut
The guard rejects an ordinary Pathfinder. The consistently reported solution is to approach while Twined as Helmut:
- Catch a regular Helmut before visiting the scene.
- Travel to the Golden Helmet west of Sanctum: All in Sight.
- Use Twine to control your Helmut directly.
- Approach the Devoted Helmut and take the Golden Helmet.
- Catch the Mountain Woods Helmut that appears to complete the scene.

Why does the guard keep pushing you away?
Check these common problems:
- You walked up as the Pathfinder instead of entering Twine first.
- You Twined with another creature; Helmut is the repeatedly documented solution.
- You are at a nearby helmet or landmark rather than the hidden scene west of All in Sight.
- You already completed the one-time scene and are looking for the post-unlock spawn instead.
One launch walkthrough reports that a creature with a Cloak ability can slip past the guard. A September 17 player discussion also records a successful Control pull, with Control or Cloak suggested as alternatives. These are community-reported shortcuts rather than official quest instructions; use the Helmut Twine route when you want the most consistently documented solution. Steam community report.
What does the scene unlock?
Catching the encounter gives you the Mountain Woods form of Helmut. Current launch guides report that the form can appear in the surrounding area after the scene, but exact community-map spawn coordinates may change or be incomplete. This page does not merge later Helmut evolution requirements into the Golden Helmet scene.
The encounter is in Russet Highlands. It is unrelated to the Astra-based Mysterious Presence quest.
